On Fubara I, watched with nostalgia the political explosions rocking Rivers State like some theatre of war in the Middle-East.g
These thunderous defections, ballistic demolitions, unlawful assaults on governor, speakership scramble among others were orchestrated by political gladiators with sole intent to control the oil rich state.
Recall that since things fell apart between @OfficialNyesom Wike, former Rivers State governor cum current FCT Minister and his political ‘god-son’, @officialSim Fubara, the center no longer held juices of conviviality expected from father and son relationship.
Like an egg against the ground, their discord spilled it contents with growing disaffection and looming instability in the state save not for stakeholders prompt interventions.
Against this backdrop, His Excellency, @officialBola Ahmed Tinubu, President Federal Republic of Nigeria summoned warring parties to the Presidential Villa, Abuja for an audience.
During this critical meeting, Mr. President cautioned factions to maintain statuesque yielding Fubara’s recognition of 25 Assembly members including Speaker, RT. Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule who hitherto defected to the APC, resignation of RT. Hon. Edison Ehie from the Rivers State House of Assembly and shielding impeachment sword by pro-Wike block in the Assembly against Fubara.
Outwardly, all may seem colourful and beautiful from this smokescreen reconciliation. Inwardly, this perceived gentleman agreement is but cosmetic timed bomb lurked for 2027.
Hence this article provides an overview on how the current Rivers State Governor can navigate the trouble waters with a view to emerging stronger at polls come 2027 governorship elections.
Sentiments apart, failure to abide by these logical postulations as outlined by this writer will be the albatross that would sunk Fubara’s ship in the rainy days.
While not wearing the garment of a political Octopus, It is an open secret that the election that brought Sim Fubara as Rivers State governor was executed by Nyesom Wike despite falling out with his party shortly after it presidential primary.
This rage snowballed into formation of G-5 governors who eventually sabotaged the interest of PDP and her 2023 presidential flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar.
Amidst this fiasco within the PDP, Wike smuggled Fubara to Rivers State government house as Executive Governor, a feat the Obiakpor demagogue hopes to repeat in 2027 by anointing a replacement for the sitting governor to prove political point.
According to grapevines, swinging pendulum from forthcoming PDP National Convention is alleged to favour G-5 governors plotting to maintain dominance in the party.
Should this ambitions of theirs manifest, Fubara and his second term aspirations will be relegated to the background in the umbrella party.
Again, should Fubara swims against the tides to fly PDP flag, winning general elections will mean forcing the head of a camel through an eye of a needle as his party would be too disorganized, disoriented, fragmented and unstable to offer requisite support.
On the other hand, APC would give Sim Fubara a heroic welcome, level playing ground, federal apparatus and nomenclature of party leader in the state without ambiguity.
Note that the ruling party is yet to constitute her state working committee in Rivers, cross-carpeting now will afford Fubara ample opportunity to partake in the formation proper especially now that Wike is still on the other side of the divide.
No gainsaying that the federal government will leverage on her long questing to govern Rivers State in providing Fubara needed paraphernalia to deliver quality democratic dividends to the masses that will metamorphosed into electoral victory compared to the endless mess and venoms which awaits him at the claws of opposition party.
Meanwhile, should Wike join in the array of defections to the APC, his respect for His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR wouldn’t afford him the frivolities to winch-hunt Sim.
Rather, the President’s overriding powers will ensure both lions cohabit in the same enclave without rancho.
It is only by so doing Sim Fubara will return champion in 2027 as deduced from my political telescope.
