In a recent development, five out of the six sisters from the Al-Kadriyar family, who were abducted by bandits in the Bwari area of Abuja, have been released on Saturday night.

At the time of reporting, it was not independently confirmed whether the security operatives successfully rescued the girls or if their family paid a ransom for their release.

However, Kabiru Aminu, an uncle to the girls, shared the news of their freedom through a video posted on his X handle @kabiru_aminu. The video showcased the joyous celebration of the sisters and their relatives.

Aminu expressed his excitement on Twitter, stating, “#Najeebahandhersisters are home right now, someone please wake me up!” He followed up with another tweet, praising the strength of the girls, “#Najeebahandhersisters. These girls are strong.”

The kidnapping incident involved the abduction of the six sisters and their father. Subsequently, the abductors released their father, demanding a ransom of N60 million for the safe release of his daughters before Friday, January 12.

Efforts were made to gather the required funds, with Nigerians urged to donate any amount they could to a designated bank account. However, the money raised was insufficient.

Unfortunately, displeased with the situation, the gunmen allegedly killed the eldest sister among the six and left her body at an undisclosed location for her parents to bury.

In response to the tragic killing of Najeebah, the Nigeria Police Force expressed its determination to intensify rescue efforts for the remaining victims. Additionally, they reassured Nigerians that measures were being taken to prevent further cases of kidnapping throughout the country.
