The dream of the All Progressive Congress APC winning the coming governorship election in Edo State depends solely on the governorship candidate the party filled at the election. It should be a warning to the party that Edo State are well sophisticated and enlightened people who would not settle for anything less than the best especially at this moment that the PDP government in power has betrayed the trust of the people. The people of Edo State want changes but a credible one. APC must be warned that the memory of fraud charges against Dennis Idahosa under the administration of former governor Adams Oshiomhole is still fresh in the mind of the people and how he subsequently joined the then PDP being the government in power at the federal level just to evade arrest and prosecution.
It would be recalled that as a commissioner under the administration of former governor Adams Oshiomhole, Dennis Idahosa was accused of fraud in a petition against him from abroad. The fraud was said to be an industrial scale corruption which prompted the former governor to set up an administrative panel of inquiry to investigate and report back to the governor for the necessary action.
With the revelation from the panel, the governor had no choice than to sack him to prevent the integrity of the government in power and the anti corruption crusade of the Adams Oshiomhole’s administration. He immediately joined the PDP just to cover up his corruption and fraud practices. This was under the former President Goodluck Jonathan administration.
It is in view of this that Edo people are calling on APC not to reopen the sad memories Dennis Idahosa left in the state as commissioner. Presenting Dennis Idahosa to the good people of Edo State as a candidate by the APC is a way of saying APC did not needs the votes of the people. It is expected that APC will not joke with the coming election as a chance to reclaim the state.
At this time, Dennis Idahosa might appear to APC as a saint but his records and antecedents in the state makes him a bad market and a candidate not sellable. APC must be careful not to filled Dennis Idahosa as the governorship candidate of the party in the coming governorship election.
