In response to the increasing cases of killings and kidnappings in the country, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, has expressed deep concern and urged security agencies to intensify their efforts in apprehending the perpetrators. The Olubadan specifically highlighted the need to bring the killers of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State to justice.
In a statement issued in Ibadan by his Personal Assistant on Media, Oladele Ogunsola, the Olubadan expressed his dismay at the recent brutal murder of the two monarchs and a nursing mother, along with her mother, who were attacked while returning from a meeting. These tragic incidents have underscored the urgent need to address the security challenges facing the nation.
While acknowledging the recent successes of the security agencies in dismantling criminal camps and rescuing abducted individuals, the Olubadan called on them to maintain the momentum in the fight against kidnapping and other threats to the nation’s unity. He emphasized the importance of strong security measures and cooperation among various stakeholders to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
In a separate event, the Olubadan hosted the Zonal Commander of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, Zone 1, and commended the agency for its efforts in combating drug abuse. Recognizing the destructive effects of drug abuse, the Olubadan pledged his full support and cooperation in addressing this issue.
The Zonal Commander, during the meeting, highlighted the agency’s commitment to tackling drug abuse and sought the Olubadan’s support in identifying and apprehending those involved in the illicit drug trade within the community. The Olubadan assured the Zonal Commander of his assistance in identifying and reporting any suspicious activities related to drug abuse.
