They have contributed to stabilizing volatile situations, protecting civilians, and facilitating post-conflict reconstruction. In Liberia, Nigerian peacekeepers were instrumental in restoring peace and security during the country’s civil war.
2. Regional Counterterrorism Efforts:
Nigeria actively collaborates with neighboring countries like Niger, Chad, and Cameroon in regional counterterrorism operations. The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) comprising troops from these nations has been combating the Boko Haram insurgency in the Lake Chad Basin region. Nigerian military personnel have contributed expertise, resources, and experience to the MNJTF, leading to significant successes such as the liberation of territories previously under Boko Haram’s control.
