In an effort to ensure accountability and uphold its internal disciplinary measures, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of Boki Local Government Area (LGA), Cross River State, has taken a proactive step by constituting a Disciplinary Committee. The committee is tasked with investigating allegations of abuse of office and violations of the party’s constitution by Mr Anthony Edako, the PDP State Secretary.

The allegations, brought against Hon. Edako, are based on Section 58 (1) (c, d, f, h, i, j) of the PDP Constitution as amended in 2017. In response to these concerns, the Boki LGA PDP Executive Committee and caucus approved the formation of a seven-member committee. This marks a significant step in maintaining the integrity of the party and ensuring that its guiding principles are respected by all its members, regardless of their position.

The members appointed to the Disciplinary Committee include:

1. Hon. Barr. Anthony Ewah Obi – Chairman
2. Hon. Kelly Ayamba – Secretary
3. Hon. Emmanuel Obi – Member
4. Mrs. Veronica Odok – Member
5. Dr. Victor Okpashi – Member
6. Engr. Benneth Awusa – Member
7. Barr. John Kejin – Member

This committee is charged with thoroughly investigating the allegations and submitting a comprehensive report during the period of Hon. Edako’s suspension. The committee will also notify all relevant parties regarding the dates and venues for its meetings and proceedings, ensuring transparency and due process.

Speaking on the development, a PDP representative expressed confidence that the committee’s findings would lead to a resolution that aligns with the party’s commitment to discipline and fairness. The prompt response of the Boki LGA PDP to set up this committee underscores its dedication to upholding the values of good governance within its ranks.

The outcome of the committee’s investigation will be pivotal for the future course of the PDP in Boki LGA and setting standard for internal discipline and accountability within the party structure.
