In the rapidly evolving landscape of African technology and innovation, few names command as much respect and admiration as Tosin Eniolorunda a quietly relentless visionary who has become a powerhouse in Nigeria’s fintech revolution.
From the bustling streets of Lagos where he was born, to the vibrant city of Ibadan where he was raised, Tosin’s journey has been anything but ordinary. A trained mechanical engineer with an eye for systems and solutions, he graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University in 2007. But it wasn’t gears and engines that would define his legacy it was money, movement, and meaningful impact.
Engineering Innovation: From Interswitch to Independence
Tosin began his professional journey at Interswitch, one of Africa’s earliest and most influential digital payments companies. Over five transformative years, he evolved from software developer to a managerial role, gaining firsthand experience in the inner workings of electronic transactions. It was here that he began to envision a more inclusive, scalable, and responsive banking ecosystem one that could empower millions, not just the elite few.
TeamApt to Moniepoint: Building Nigeria’s Fintech Titan
In 2015, Eniolorunda took the leap into entrepreneurship with the creation of TeamApt, developing banking software solutions for major Nigerian banks such as Sterling Bank and Unity Bank. But he didn’t stop there. Seeing a deeper need among underserved communities and small businesses, TeamApt evolved into Moniepoint a full-fledged digital banking and payments platform.
Under Tosin’s leadership, Moniepoint has grown into Nigeria’s largest business payments platform, servicing millions of users and facilitating over $14 billion in monthly transactions. With a sharp focus on agency banking and a vision to democratize access to financial services, Moniepoint has become the financial lifeline for small and medium-sized businesses across the country.
Impact and Influence: More Than Just Numbers
Tosin Eniolorunda is not merely a fintech founder he is a disruptor with purpose. His commitment to solving real problems for everyday Nigerians has earned him accolades from prestigious institutions including the Central Bank of Nigeria, CB Insights, and the Financial Times.
In October 2024, Moniepoint joined the elite club of African unicorns, achieving a valuation of over $1 billion a monumental milestone not just for the company, but for the future of African innovation.
Rooted in Legacy, Focused on the Future
Though his achievements are global, Tosin’s story remains deeply Nigerian. The son of Rotimi, an engineering contractor, and Ajoke, a teacher, he hails from Ose Local Government in Ondo State. His early education at University of Ibadan Staff School and Command Day School laid the foundation for a life of learning, resilience, and service.
As fintech continues to redefine economies across Africa, Tosin Eniolorunda stands as a beacon for what’s possible when talent meets tenacity, and when innovation is guided by impact.
At GlitzTV, we’re proud to spotlight Tosin—not just as a tech titan, but as a symbol of homegrown excellence redefining the global narrative.
