As the people of Edo State prepares to elect a new governor in September 2023 as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), political parties have started the processes of electing their flag bearers with the lead opposition party APC opening the sales of their form and subsequently dumping the earlier clamored zoning their party ticket to the Edo Central senatorial district.
The 2024 gubernatorial election in Edo state will be a unique one due to the several political tensions affecting the state since the defection of Governor Obaseki from the APC to PDP in June 2020.
The ring for 2024 election was thrown upon after the immediate past Budget and National planning state minister Prince Clem Agba declared his intention to run in Decently 2023.
His entrance into the race changed the existing political permutations, this is due to his personality and position in the APC. His declaration at Uzanu community in Etsako East LGA brought new discussions of zoning and balance of rotation in the state.
Looking at the nature of Edo politics where power has gone to the Central, North and South, it will be ill thought to peg the 2024 guber election on the spindle of zoning. Especially in the house of APC who is currently serving as opposition party in the state.
The opportunity for the All Progressives Congress to field a candidate who personality surpasses ethno-sectional politics brings in Hon. Prince Clem Agba into the frontline.
The immediate past state budget minister is indeed an open check the APC as he stands tall amidst the clamor by those who do understand the Edo politics to zone the party ticket to the central senatorial district.
The decision of the National Working Committee of APC to jettison zoning is a progressive one as it it gives equal consideration to persons who are prepared to oust the People’s Democratic Party from Osadebey house.
The candidature of Prince Clem Agba presents a unique opportunity to APC to reclaim the mandate sold out by Governor Obaseki in 2020. The Etsako East prince is a destiny child who’s time has come to align his people into good governance and bring back the hope lost after the tenure of Comrade Adams Oshiomole.
I’m certain that APC National workin committee considers the chances of the party winning while deciding to drop the idea of zoning. This brings to the rim the reason while Prince Clem Agba demonstrates the yearning of his Edo people.
Going through his TRUST-AGENDA, I see a leader who matches the people’s chatter of need as demonstrated in his 4 years service as minister of the federal republic where he ensured that his people are captured in the budget and national planning of the Buhari led administration.
It’s a fact that Hon. Clem Agba is the most prepared candidate in the APC ready to redeem the lost glory of the State. There are visible proofs that Prince Agba has demonstrated great love and support to his people.
Over 70 projects attracted to the good people of Edo state in 4 years is enough reason to trust the him with the APC ticket. His acceptance by the people of Edo state was demonstrated during his recent local government declaration tours where party faithfuls trooped in to welcome him.
Of a truth, no candidate currently jostling for the party’s ticket stands the possibility and achievements of Prince Clem Agba.
