The postgraduate students of the University of Cross river (UNICROSS) have honoured Hon. Douglas Ogar, CEO of Feravic Cocoa Ventures Nigeria, with an Award of Honour in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of postgraduate education in the institution.
The award ceremony, which took place on Thursday, at Hogins Royal Hotel, Calabar, was a heartfelt gesture by the students to express their deep appreciation for Hon. Ogar’s continued support and commitment to the academic and social welfare of postgraduate scholars at the university.
Hon. Douglas Ogar, a prominent entrepreneur and the progenitor of the Wan Osowo political movement, previously served as a councillor in Boki Local Government Area during the 6th Assembly. He recently contested in the just-concluded Boki Local Government Chairmanship election. Though he was not successful in the race, he remains a respected figure in the political and business landscapes of Cross River State.
In his remarks, Hon. Ogar expressed his gratitude to the students for the honour bestowed upon him. He described the recognition as a source of motivation to continue supporting education and youth empowerment across the state.
“I’m truly humbled by this gesture,” he said. “Supporting the development of young minds, especially at the postgraduate level, is something I am deeply passionate about. I commend the students for their drive and dedication, and I assure them of my continued support.”
The Feravic Cocoa Ventures boss also emphasized the importance of education in national development and pledged to continue advocating for initiatives that promote learning, research, and innovation in Cross River State and beyond.
The event was attended by university officials, student leaders, community representatives, and well-wishers, all of whom lauded Hon. Ogar’s contributions to the institution and his vision for youth development.
